Who I Am

Grass Tree Governance

I was born in Hong Kong to Australian parents, with a family history based in Albany, Western Australia. I now live in Perth, land traditionally belonging to the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation. I am married with three young daughters. I take every opportunity I can to show my girls the beautiful country in which they live.

It has been my privilege to work for and with Aboriginal people for most of my working life and I would like to pay my humble respects and extend my heartfelt gratitude to the traditional owners and the Elders past and present who have cared for and nurtured this incredible land for so many tens of thousands of years.

Experience & Approach

Having spent much of my legal career working closely with Aboriginal corporations and communities, including as a solicitor with the Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia (ALSWA), I founded Grass Tree Governance to offer dedicated, practical, and hands-on governance support tailored specifically to Aboriginal organisations.

Governance in community-owned corporations is not one-size-fits-all. It requires a genuine understanding of local culture, an appreciation of community aspirations, and sound knowledge of corporate and regulatory frameworks including the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act).

Whether delivering induction training for new Directors, managing secretariat obligations for large annual general meetings, or drafting solid governance policies, my focus is always on building local capacity and supporting leaders on their governance journey.
